Padma Shri recipient Dr. Ashok Vaid is a distinguished Medical Oncologist with more than 41 years of professional experience. His expertise lies in treating organ-specific cancers, Leukemias in children, and Lymphomas. He pioneered the first 25 bone marrow transplants in any private-sector Hosp. in North India. After completing his MBBS from Univ. of Jammu, J&K, 1983, he also achieved MD in General Medicine from Univ. of Jammu, J&K, 1989, and DM in Medical Oncology from Dr. MGR Medical Univ., 1993. He actively participates in workshops and conferences within the field of medical oncology. Dr. Vaid is a part of esteemed organizations, including the Breast Cancer Foundation of India, Indian Society of Medical & Pediatric Oncology (ISMPO), Indian Medical Association, American Society of Clinical Oncology, Indian Association of Gynaec Oncologists, Association of Physicians of India, etc. He is the founder of the Indian Cooperative Oncology Network (ICON) and a life part of the European Haematology Association and the European Society of Medical Oncology.
