Dr. Bhaskar Viswanathan is a well?recognized Radiation Oncologist with more than 28 years of professional experience. He focuses on precision-based individualized radiation treatments for Cervical, Head & Neck, and Prostate cancers. He is skilled in multimodality-guided intracavitary and Interstitial Brachytherapy and High Precision Adaptive Radiotherapy treatment. He is also experienced in Intraoperative MRI-guided Brachytherapy procedures. Dr. Viswanathan has a deep knowledge of Deep Inspiration Breath Hold (DIBH) breast cancer treatment. He offers hypo-fractionated radiation schedules for converting Palliative care to Radical. His educational qualifications include an MBBS from National Coll., Bengaluru, an MD from Kidwai Memorial Inst. of Oncology, 1997, and a 1-year Clinical Fellowship Program at Juravinski Cancer Centre, Hamilton, Canada. He performed a one-year Clinical Research project at Tata Memorial Hosp. in Mumbai in 1998. He completed short academic courses in Genetic Engineering and Human Molecular Genetics at the Indian Inst. of Science, along with research lab advanced training at IVRI Bengaluru. In 2017, Dr. Viswanathan participated in an orientation program on Hyperthermia techniques in Breast and Cervical cancers at Erasmus MC Netherlands. He is the inventor of Robotic Image Guided Brachytherapy for treating Hepatic tumors, with phase 1 trials pending. He played a key role in establishing a Nanoparticle research lab with a 60 Lakh funded project, focusing on formulating Iron oxide and Gadolinium nanoparticles for cancer treatment. Dr. Viswanathan is a part of the PRSG committee of the Department of IT, BT, and Electronics (DEITY) of the Government of India, providing cancer expertise for research audits in Cancer nanotechnology research at IIT, Mumbai. He is fluent in English and Hindi.Education
