Dr. Deepak Govil is a highly esteemed Surgical Gastroenterologist with more than 41 years of professional experience. He focuses on a wide range of procedures, including Portal Hypertension surgery, Splenectomy, Lieno-renal shunts, Ilio-anal Anastomosis with a pouch for Ulcerative colitis, Esophageal resection with Gastric pull-up, Whipple’s Pancreato-Duodenectomy, Hepaticojejunostomy for Biliary strictures and tumours obstructive jaundice and Hepaticojejun, etc. Throughout his career, he has performed over 1000 liver and gastrointestinal surgeries, including laparoscopic procedures. Dr. Govil was instrumental in establishing the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery at PSRI in New Delhi. He participated in a liver transplantation surgery at Apollo Hosp. on September 15, 2006. After completing his MBBS from All India Inst. of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, 1982, he also achieved an MS (General Surgery) from All India Inst. of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, 1986, and a PhD (Gastrointestinal Surgery) from All India Inst. of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, 1995. He received the President’s Appreciation accolade at the IMA South Delhi Annual Convention in January 2009. He convened the “Delhi GI Surgeons Club” from 1999 to 2008, organizing regular clinical meetings in surgical gastroenterology departments across Delhi. Dr. Govil is actively engaged in research, with publications in prestigious journals and contributions to book chapters. He is a part of the Association of Surgeons of India, Indian Society of Gastroenterology, Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology, Indian Association of Endoscopic Gastro Surgeons of India, Delhi Chapter of Association of Surgeons of India, South Delhi Branch of Indian Medical Association, Association of Colorectal Surgeons of India, Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endo-Surgeons (IAGES), and Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI).Education
