Dr. Dinesh Balakrishnan is a distinguished Surgical Gastroenterologist, Surgical Oncologist, and Liver Transplant Surgeon with more than 28 years of professional experience. His expertise lies in Gastrointestinal Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Liver Transplantation, Small Bowel Transplantation, and Pancreas Transplantation, among other fields. His educational qualifications include an MBBS from Medical Coll. Calicut in 1996, an MS (General Surgery) from Medical Coll. Kottayam in 2001, and a DNB (Surgical Gastroenterology) from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Following his post-graduation, Dr. Balakrishnan served as a lecturer in the Department of General Surgery at Kottayam Medical Coll.. Upon completing his specialization, he became a Clinical Assistant Professor in the same department. In 2010, Dr. Balakrishnan assumed the role of senior clinical fellow at Addenbrooke's Hosp. Cambridge, focusing on Transplant Surgery. During his tenure, he gained extensive professional experience in organ retrieval, implantation, and the care of patients undergoing multivisceral transplants. Dr. Balakrishnan has served as actively involved in public health initiatives, collaborating with state government bodies like KNOS and voluntary organizations such as the National Service Society. He has performed numerous awareness camps across the state on public health issues and promoted awareness about organ donation. He is an active part of the Association of Surgeons of India, the Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology, and the Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India.
