Dr. Rajendra Prasad is a Neurospine Surgeon with more than 38 years of professional experience. His expertise lies in spine surgery for degenerative diseases like lumbar and cervical disc prolapse, lumbar canal stenosis, and spinal instrumentation for injuries, infections, tumors, spondylolisthesis, and artificial disc replacement. He has investigated and treated over 250 patients with low back and neck pain using Radiofrequency (RF) Rhizotomy, a significant series presented at the American Congress of Neurological Sciences meeting. He has performed approximately 1500 microsurgical excisions of brain and spinal tumors, utilizing robotic frameless image guidance or frame-based stereotactic assistance. Dr. Prasad has performed over 4000 brain and spine surgeries at Indraprastha Apollo Hosp.. He performed Asia's first Robotic spine surgery using the da Vinci robot at Apollo Hosp. and was awarded the British Medical Journal accolade (2014) for the "Surgical Team of the Year." In India, he was amongst the first users of artificial discs for Cervical and Lumbar disc Replacement (Bryan Disc) and Interspinous Dynamic stabilization devices before they were approved for use in the USA by the FDA. He is actively involved in social healthcare, particularly in head injury prevention and neuro-rehabilitation, founding and managing three neuro-rehabilitation centers for the less privileged. Dr. Prasad was the finalist at the British Medical Journal (BMJ) accolades for South Asia (2015) for advocacy work on decreasing the impact of road traffic trauma. He was the head of India's Primary Trauma Care team, conducting head injury advanced training programs for medical personnel and first responders. He is presently collaborating with the WHO to promote Assistive Technology for Neuro-rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and the elderly in Southeast Asia. Dr. Prasad has performed OPDs in several cities in India and Africa, contributing significantly to medical tourism, particularly from East Africa, since 1998. Delhi Neurological Society felicitated him with the "Lifetime Achievement accolade" (2019) for clinical and philanthropic contributions. He has presented many presentations at National and International meetings.
