Dr. Z.S. Meharwal is an Executive Director and Head of the Cardiac Surgery, Heart Transplantation, and Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD) program and is a part of the founding team of Doctors at FEHI. With more than 32 years of professional experience as a Cardiac Surgeon, he has performed over 30000 surgeries, including left ventricular assist devices (LVAD) and complex heart surgeries. He is a pioneer in many new cardiac surgeries in India. He achieved his MBBS, MS, and MCh from King George Medical Coll., Lucknow. He has served as professionally associated with King Coll. Hosp., London, UK, and G B Pant Hosp., Delhi. He has served as actively involved with advanced training and teaching and is the Programme Director of DNB Cardiothoracic Surgery at Fortis Escorts Heart Inst.. Dr. Meharwal has trained many Indian and International cardiac surgeons who are now independent cardiac surgeons at different centers. He has served as invited to national and international meetings as a faculty and has published extensively in peer-reviewed national and international journals. He has received several accolades, including the President's accolade, for his contribution to the field of cardiac surgery. Dr. Meharwal has served as awarded the Citation accolade by President of India Sri APJ Abdul Kalam on the occasion of the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery Meeting (2002), and Saharanpur Aditya Samman by Govt of UP for contribution to the Medical Field (2005). He entered into the Limca Book of Records (2008) for performing Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery on a 94-year-old man who is the oldest patient to undergo CABG. He is a part of the Indian Association of Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgeons, the Cardiological Society of India, the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery, and the Asian Society of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery.Education
